33 entries.

  • Bog Hopper

A squat, frog-like marsh amphibian — oversized muscular hind legs, broad webbed feet, bulging eyes and mottled olive-brown skin. One startled hop sets the whole group leaping.

  • Burrower

A monstrous mole-badger — enormous digging foreclaws, a wedge-shaped snout, small eyes, dusty brown fur and a muscular low body.

  • Carrion Kite

A monstrous vulture-like bird — hooked beak, long ragged wings, dark brown and charcoal feathers, a hunched neck and sharp talons.

  • Castle Captain

The garrison's captain: a finer sword and shield; rallies nearby soldiers.

  • Castle Footman

A castle footman: sword and shield, fighting from the gate.

  • Cave Bat

A leathery cave bat. It sleeps through footsteps — but not through a fight.

  • Cave Rat

A pale, hunched rat of the deep tunnels. Alone it is weak; its colony is not.

  • Cave Spider

A dog-sized cave spider that feels every tremor in its web. Not venomous — its bite is bad enough.

  • Dustfox

A lean, slightly monstrous fox — dusty reddish-grey fur, large ears, a long snout and a bushy pale-tipped tail. It slips away from people and bites only when cornered or struck.

  • Fen Elk

A tall, long-legged elk of the open fen — dark chestnut coat, shaggy neck, broad hooves and wide branching antlers. It lifts its head and stamps before it bolts.

  • Fenback

A massive humped marsh grazer — thick peat-brown hide, coarse moss-coloured hair, a heavy neck, blunt muzzle, short curved horns and wide spreading hooves.

  • Field Rat

A brown scavenger of field edges and grain stores. Skittish: it bolts from anything bigger than itself.

  • Giant Rat

A rat the size of a terrier, bold when its prey falters.

  • Glasswing

A large dragonfly-like marsh insect — long segmented body, six delicate legs, enormous translucent veined wings, dark emerald chitin and pale amber eyes.

  • Highmere Guard

A trained Highmere guard armed with sword and shield.

  • Mud Crab

A riverbank crab with a shell like a cobblestone. It ignores you unless you strike it.

  • Mudjaw

A monstrous salamander / snapping-turtle hybrid — flattened skull, an enormous crushing jaw, thick mud-brown skin, small eyes, four powerful legs and a broad muscular tail. No shell.

  • Orc

A brutish orc raider: thick-skinned, hard-hitting and not easily scared off. Currently a test/legacy creature only.

  • Rattlewing

A monstrous cicada-grasshopper — tough brown-green chitin, six jointed legs, powerful hind legs and four translucent wings under ridged covers.

  • Reed Serpent

A long, muscular marsh snake — dark olive-green scales with irregular brown markings, a pale underbelly, a narrow angular head and amber eyes.

  • Reedstalker

A monstrous four-legged marsh predator, part fishing cat and part reptile — a narrow elongated head, mottled reed-green hide, long muscular legs and webbed claws.

  • Rootcrawler

A coil of roots and soil on the ground — until it uncoils into a long, many-legged root-centipede.

  • Sheep

A fluffy sheep grazing near town. Harmless — it would much rather bolt than fight.

  • Skeleton

Restless bones: slow and brittle, but relentless while they can see you. Currently a test/legacy creature only.

  • Skeleton Archer

A risen skeleton that fights at range with a bow. Currently used for testing only; not found in the world.

  • Stonejaw

A monstrous, low-slung four-legged predator — a crocodilian head with enormous crushing jaws, rugged dark hide and thick neck muscles. It growls and bares its jaws at anyone who comes near its den.

  • Tideclaw

A low, broad shore arthropod with one huge armoured claw it keeps turned toward trouble.

  • Wild Boar

A bristle-backed woodland boar. It snorts and paws a warning before it commits to a charge.

  • Wild Hen

A half-wild farmyard hen. Completely harmless — it never pecks back.

  • Windhorn

A slender, long-legged antelope of the open grassland — dusty tawny coat and tall, curved, naturally hollow horns. When the wind crosses them they sound a soft, hollow note, like breath across the mouth of a bottle.

  • Young Wolf

A lean young grey wolf. Never alone — where you see one, the rest of the pack is already circling.
