Overview
A low, broad shore arthropod with one huge armoured claw it keeps turned toward trouble. Its body is lopsided: one oversized armoured side and one lighter side.
Behaviour
The Tideclaw is an armoured scavenger. When calm it feeds on carcasses near its home. When you come close it warns you — armoured side turned, claw raised — before it fights. It commits if you keep coming, attack it, or interfere with its meal.
- Directional armour. It keeps its armoured side toward its attacker. Hits there are mostly deflected; its flank and lighter side take full damage. Flank it.
- The grab. After a slow, telegraphed wind-up it clamps you and drags you sideways toward shallow water. You can still attack, cast and block while held (see Snares and grabs).
- Water. It turns and sidesteps faster in shallow water than on dry ground. When it flees, it dives into deep water and submerges, untouchable, before surfacing later and walking home — no health restored.
Where it lives
The tidal flats of Tide Flats.
After the kill
A Tideclaw leaves a carcass rather than a loot bag. It is meant to be field-dressed with the planned Hunting skill; what it yields has not been decided yet.
